Introduction to Membership in the Symphony
Volunteer Council
The largest volunteer support group to the Alabama Symphony
Orchestra is the Symphony Volunteer Council. It is organized to
support the mission and activities of the Alabama Symphonic
Association and Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
In 1994, the
Symphony Volunteer Council committed to raise $2,000,000 for the
Endowment Fund and allocates proceeds from its annual
Decorators’ ShowHouse for that purpose. Our contribution
currently stands at $1,559,928.81.
The Council is
also involved in various educational projects and other
fundraising events, and stands ready to assist staff in various
projects that need certain talents of our membership. The
Council also sponsors an annual competitive young artists Music
Scholarship program.
Membership in the Symphony Volunteer Council is open to anyone
who shares a love of music and an interest in the Alabama
Symphony Orchestra. Members share time, expertise and experience
assisting with various Council projects, and helping financially
with donations for various special needs of the orchestra.
Our Mission
The Symphony Volunteer Council supports, strengthens and
enhances the effectiveness of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra
through fund-raising, educational, and social activities, and
stimulates appreciation of fine music in the community.
