Mr. Spencer was founder and Chairman of the Birmingham Museum of Art. He formed a land company, purchased a tract of land between the Birmingham Country Club and Montclair Road, divided the land into estate size lots and threw dice to decide ownership of the lots. Mr. Spencer won 6 acres on Ridge Drive.
