A Music Interlude

The ASO Symphony Volunteer Council’s Party of Notes 09 kicked off on January 16, 2009 with “A Music Interlude” at the beautiful Buckhead home of Steve & Charlotte Clarkson.  Co-hosts were Eric & Cheree Carlton and Terry & Deb Sanders.  ASO Concertmaster, Daniel Szasz and pianist Anthony Pattin, Professor of Music at the University of Montevallo, presented a sample of the Concertmaster & Friends concert that was repeated at Samford’s Brock Recital Hall on January 20th .

 

Enjoying smoked salmon, asparagus rollups, margarita shrimp shooters, Amadeus cheese, eighth note sugar cookies, Mozart Kugels, and wine provided by Vintage Wine Shoppe were John & Anita Ranelli, Joe Sanders, Debbie Reid, Ben Johnson, Anthony & Barbara Barnard, Dominique McCalla, Darlene Gray, Melanie Crane, Wilma Geels, Rog Williams, Cecile Perkins, Bob & Shirley Brown, SVC President Roberta Atkinson and her husband Jim, R. Pringle and Kathie Ramsey, Herb & Diane Rossmeisl, Rob & Vicky Hardesty and Bob & Amy Bradley.

 
 
An Italian Valentine Dinner

Deane and Ron Giles beautiful Cahaba Valley home was the Italian Valentine  Party of Note sponsored by the Symphony Volunteer Council.  Co-hosts Tonie & Gene Bone provided a wonderful Northern Italian Valentine dinner assisted by their son Frank. 
 
The menu included Pasta Boscaiola( Egg pasta with porcini mushrooms , prosciutto, peas and tomato sauce), Insalata Mista( Mixed green salad with parmesan and vinaigrette dressing), Petti di Pollo alla Bolognese(Chicken breast with prosciutto and fontina cheese), Teglia di Vedure(roasted mixed vegetables),  and Italian cheesecake.  The Italian wines were provided by Jack and Nancy Natter.  Harpist Ellen Stanton entertained during cocktails.  Seen in the crowd were SVC President Roberta Atkinson and her husband Jim, Fletcher & Martha Yielding, Ann Horne, Chandler & Jane Paris Smith, Bob & Shirley Brown, Tom & Liz Warren and Jody Weston. 
 
The tables were decorated with rose arrangements.  Birmingham Home and Garden photographed the house for an upcoming issue. 
 
 
 

A Music Interlude

The grand home of Dr. Chandler and Jane Paris Smith was the perfect intimate setting for a Salon Concert featuring Alabama Symphony Orchestra string section members, Mayumi Masri, Anne Pandolfi, Rene Reder and Wei Liu.  The guests were treated to a memorable performance of works by Mozart, Haydn and Strauss.

 

After the concert, guests mingled and dined on the hors d’oeuvres and sweets prepared and donated by Chef Franklin Biggs, of Franklin’s Homewood Gourmet. 

 

Among the guests were Charlie Perry, President of the Alabama Symphonic Association, and his wife, Sheri.  He, along with Chandler Smith highlighted key performances for the upcoming 2008-2009 season and handed out programs to several guests.  Jane Paris Smith presented the musicians with a gift in appreciation for their performance.

 

Tonie Bone spoke of the upcoming Party Of Note, An Evening In Venice, and generated much excitement with the display of the handmade jewelry and original Venetian Masks.

 

Symphony Volunteer Council members enjoying the evening were: Edith & Bob Bauman, Charlotte & Steve Clarkson, Ruth & Frank Kelly, Tonie & Gene Bone, Wilma Geels, Liz & Tom Warren, Nancy & Bart Morrow and Diane & Herb Rossmeisl.  Several of Chandler & Jane’s friends from other arts organizations were there to support our Parties of Note and the ASO.
 
 
 

 
 
 

 

A Night of Fine Art & Fine Wine

The 9th event in the series of the 2008 Parties of Note was held at the Arceneaux Art Gallery on Rocky Ridge Road.  Hosts, Patty and Tim Arceneaux welcomed over 60 guests who enjoyed delicacies and fine wine provided by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar as several artists demonstrated their skills in the courtyard and in the gallery.

 

A drawing for an original art work, donated by Patty and Tim Arceneaux, was won by Joyce and Ebbie Jones.  It seemed a deserving honor as the Jones’ hold the record for having attended the most Parties of Note.
